Overview:
It appears this site concerns a research project where the comprehensive amount of information created by the Human Genome Project is studied in terms of the way human genes are expressed, proteins are produced and how different proteins react with one another, in order to understand the complex biological systems that take place in the human body.
The aim of the study is to eventually be able to apply what they learn to better diagnose and/or treat human disease.
Studying the changes that develop in the human genome when a cancerous growth develops in the liver or pancreas, led to the deduction that these genomic changes activate oncogenes and inactive tumor suppressor genes.
How the genome is interpreted and packaged is of vital importance to normal cell development and differentiation and mistakes taking place during these processes have an important effect on the development and outcome of disease.
