抄録/ポイント： 国際海事機関(IMO)における温室効果ガス(GHG)排出規制の記述的取り組みの動向を報告した。IMOの環境保護委員会(MEPC)において検討されており,その経緯を示しMEPC59会議での2009年調査最終報告書の概要を説明した。2050年までの船舶GHG排出予測,CO₂排出低減可能性について述べ,IMOによる技術的措置としての,新造船エネルギ効率設計指標(EEDI),運航船のエネルギ効率運航指標(EEOI)について説明した。会議で合意されたMEPC/Circ.681新造船エネルギ効率設計指標の概要も記載した。
