抄録/ポイント： 最近日本の工学設計環境がいろいろ変化した。製造会社は顧客のさまざまな需要に合致する製品を設計・販売する挑戦を受け,更新国追い上げにより競争が激しくなっている。日本企業の競争力を維持強化するために,新しい付加価値と便利なものを創り出す必要がある。初期段階の設計は最終的な設計に大きく影響する。そこで,新しい付加価値を創り出すには上流の設計を支援するツールが必要である。上流設計支援に適用できるアイデア・手法・ツールの一般的な一次元計算機利用エンジニアリング1D-CAEの研究会を設立し,その概念と1D-CAEの定義を論じた。1D-CAEに関する論議を報告した。(翻訳著者抄録)
