植物イメージングの最近の話題

抄録/ポイント： 植物の重さの約90%以上は水である。植物イメージングの植物研究への応用と水移動の可視化に関する最近の研究動向を紹介した。中性子イメージングでは試料を透過した中性子ビームを検出器で捉えて画像を得る。植物の成長が無視できる短期間の中性子画像の変化は植物内の水分布の変化と見做される。水の流れを可視化するには重水をトレーサに用いる。この方法により,植物根系による水吸収の可視化等の研究が行われるようになり,その幾つかを紹介した。今後も,研究の新たな展開が期待できる。
