エンジンの駆動力によって回転駆動されるデフケースと、デフケースを収容するケーシングと、デフケースの回転を一対の出力部材側に分配する差動機構と、この差動機構を構成する差動部材のいずれか2者の間で差動回転を変速する変速機構と、この変速機構のトルク伝達を断続するクラッチと、このクラッチを断続操作するアクチュエータとを備え、前記変速機構が、プラネタリーギヤを支承するキャリヤと、プラネタリーギヤとそれぞれ噛み合う一対の相手側ギヤとを有するプラネタリーギヤ機構であり、前記クラッチが、このプラネタリーギヤ機構の自由回転部材とケーシングとの間に配置されていることを特徴とするデファレンシャル装置。
