入射した光を導光させて片側表面から放射する導光体と、光を効率良く導光体から放射させる反射シートと拡散シートからなる導光板と、その導光板に近接する直管型蛍光ランプと、それらを保持するプラスチックケースからなるサイドエッジライト型バックライトにおいて、前記プラスチックケースの両端に前記蛍光ランプ用のソケットが設けられていることを特徴としたサイドエッジ型バックライト。
