炭化タングステン基超硬合金または炭窒化チタン基サーメットを基体とし、その表面に硬質被覆層を形成してなる表面被覆切削工具において、上記硬質被覆層は、TiとAlとCrの複合炭化物固溶体層、TiとAlとCrの複合窒化物固溶体層およびTiとAlとCrの複合炭窒化物固溶体層のうちの少なくとも1層からなることを特徴とする耐摩耗性に優れた表面被覆切削工具。
