【要約】【目的】走行中の道路環境変化に関わらず適正な障害物検出を行うことができる車両の障害物検出装置を提供することを目的とする。【構成】踏切走行中では拡がり角δをもっとも小さい値δS3あるいはゼロに設定する(ステップS13)。車両11が高速道路進入路を走行中では、コントローラ4は、拡がり角δを通常よりもややせまい値δS2に設定する(ステップS14)。コントローラ4はトンネル内を走行中であると判定した場合には、拡がり角δのトンネル走行用の値δS1を設定する(ステップS18)。この値は、通常走行用の値δn よりは小さくまた、高速道路進入路用の値よりはやや大きく設定されるのが普通である。
