第1の画像担持体上に形成された画像を中間転写体上に転写した後、第2の画像担持体上に更に転写する画像形成装置において、該中間転写体が、少なくとも弾性層上に第1の層及び第2の層をこの順に有し、かつ第1の層に用いられるバインダーの100%引張り応力が20〜60kgf/cm2 、伸びが400〜750%であり、第2の層に用いられるバインダーの100%引張り応力が70〜150kgf/cm2 、伸びが350〜600%であることを特徴とする画像形成装置。
