多数の画素から構成される画像表示領域を有し、前記画素単位で光を制御し、画像を表示する光変調表示素子において、前記画像表示領域で制御される光強度の最低値以下の均一な光強度を示す最低光強度領域で、画像表示領域を囲んだことを特徴とする光変調表示素子。
