Study on fuel safety

Research overview:
The objectives of this study are to investigate the fuel behavior of high burnup LWR fuel, including MOX fuel, under normal operation, abnormal transient, accident conditions and severe accident conditions, to support the increase of the reliability and safety of the current and advanced fuel, and to provide the data base for the safety evaluation criteria defined by the government. This study includes the following areas. a. study on fuel behavior under RIA conditions. b. study on fuel behavior under LOCA conditions. c. study on fuel behavior during normal operation. d. Analysis of fuel behavior. e. study on FP release and transportation from irradiated fuel. This research is being performed following the research subjects' study on reliability and safety of high burnup fuel', study on reliability of fuel under abnormal transient', study on fuel failure of irradiated rod under RIA conditions', study on reliability and safety of MOX fuel for LWR use', study of fuel failure of water cooling research reactor under RIA conditions' and study on the influence of severe accident' in the Five-Year Plan for Safety Research on the Nuclear Installations of the Nuclear Safety Commission.
