Research overview:
DNA repair reduced the amount of damage in DNA. It may not only change quantitatively, but may also change the type of damage in DNA. This project intends to evaluate the role of DNA repair on the types and amounts of DNA damage and subsequent mutation and/or cancer. Effects of x(gamma)-rays and ultraviolet light (UV) will be compared. Materials are microorganisms, cultured human and rodent cells and mouse. Comparison between cell strains with and without DNA repair capacity will be the main methodology.
