Study on road system using most advanced communication system

Research overview:
This study aims at developing inter-vehicle communication needed to all services in Advanced Cruise-Assist Highway System, collects data of electric wave transmission characteristics in the road space, and based on the results designs communication protocol (physical layer; zone length of communication, modulation mode, number of channels etc. and logical layer; communication format and sequence; application layer defining contents of the service) needed to realize user services in Advanced Cruise-Assist Highway System. In the 1999 fiscal year, communication protocol for demonstration experiment of Advanced Cruise-Assist Highway System was designed, electric wave transmitting characteristics of leakage wave-guide for Advanced Cruise-Assist Highway System in tunnels was investigated, countermeasure for electric wave shadowing and hand-over performances for connecting communication zones needed to Advanced Cruise-Assist Highway System were investigated for their basic design.
