Research overview:
Wave information is important for the ocean environment and the safe voyage of ships. However, the method for measuring wave information accurately and widely has not established. The useful information by commercial ships, with visual observation, is of only moderate accuracy because convenient measuring device does not exist. This research is aiming at developing the onboard measuring device using video image processing that has a moderate price and sufficient accurately. Using this measuring device, the collection, accumulation and effective use of ocean wave information has also been studied.
