Techniques of crossbreeding and anther culture are undertaken to induce enhancement of variation and improve the efficiency of breeding. Effectively new varieties of rice are produced, which have good characteristics i. e., excellent eating quality similar to that of cultiver 'Koshihikari' and different dates of maturity from 'Koshihikari'.
