Study on radiation shielding for interim storage system of spent fuels

Research overview:
The most important thing on a spent fuel interim storage system is that the criteria of dose rate at the site boundary of a interim storage facility is 0.05mSv/y. The value is 1/5 of the criteria in USA: it is 0.25mSv/y. Therefor, the main problems in the study are to establish the techniques for the reduction of the radiation steaming throught the storage casks and the skyshine originating in the streaming from the interim facility.
