Research overview:
The largest factor that makes the coarseness of the finished fase worse in the luster cutting is the fluctuation of the cutting depth of the tool during the fabrication. Rotation vibration of the tool spindle, vibration of the tool spindle by the intermittent cutting force, or the elastic slip of the tool by decrease in the cut thickness are considered as the cause of the fluctuation in the cutting depth. In this study, the determining factor of the limit of coarseness of finished surface is elucidated by searching for the cause of the fluctuation in the cutting depth by measuring the vibration properties of the tool spindle and further, the cutting force.
