Research overview:
One of the scientific targets of Mars probe in future is to probe water vein in Mars. It has become almost sure that there are frozen soil layers containing ice and groundwater veins in Mars by the recent observation by MARS GROBAL SURVEYER and MARS ODYSSEY. However, it is difficult to probe surface water directly because blowing out water penetrates soon into dried ground or evaporates. Therefore water vein is searched. When Mars probe is sent to Mars, it flies slowly by parafoil in the course of landing and lands at the final target point by induction control. We are now investigating to perform telescopic spectroscopic probe, γ ray observation, and wave echo probe by flying near the cliff while flying slowly.
