A lot of things are yet to be revealed about the influence of two way incoming earthquake motion on the quakeproof performance and the destruction state of architectural structures. As observed in the damage to buildings in the Great Hanshin Awaji Earthquake, the possibility has been pointed out that two way incoming earthquake motion or its combination with the vertical one expanded the damage to buildings. This study is to develop an on-line dynamic experimental method which can deal with two way incoming earthquake motion or its combination with the vertical one by expanding the conventional experimental methods. Moreover conducting loading tests by using those methods, we survey the destruction process of architectural structures by two way incoming earthquake motion and examine its influence on the quakeproof performance.
