Studies on trunk rot of injured todo-fir ( Abies sachalinensis )
1997 - 1999
Investigating Researcher (3)：
In man-made forests of todo-fir ( Abies sachalinensis ), trunks are often injured in thinning operations. In addition, injuries caused by foraging behaviour of sika-deer were increased in recent years. In a previous case study, we made clear that injured trunks of todo-fir were rapidly rotten by mainly Heterobasidion insularis. To generalize this result and to investigate the management to these injured trees, we study the relationship between injury and trunk rot with more extensiv fact-findings and experiments.
