Research overview:
Tidal flats are regarded as refuge areas for juvenile fishes and prawns which are exposed to hypoxic waters in summer. This study intends to developan efficient and suitable manner for environmental remediation of coastal habitats of Sakai-Semboku Port, Osaka Bay. For such purpose, the following investigations are being carried out 1) Quality of seawater, bottom sediment and distribution of benthic animals at the port. 2) Material circulation at the port. 3) Response of major benthic fishes and prawns to environmental stress.
