Research overview:
Contamination of drinking water by halogenated organic compounds produced from chlorination process is serious problem. The 2-chloropropionic acid-utilizing bacterium strain OS-2 is isolated from sludge of the drinking water treatment plant which degradate halogenated aliphatic compounds. We invetigate the strain OS-2 is applied to drinking water treatment for degradation of halogenated organic compounds.
