Fine ceramics are excellent in heat, corrosion, and abrasion resistances. For the wider application of the ceramics, accurate comparative studies of charavteristics among variousmaterials are indispensable. This study deals with silicon carbide, an important material as the structural materials. Silicon carbide shows number of polymorphism, and ratio in existence of each one of polymorphism is deeply related to the physical and mechanical properties of the material through the sintering behavior and structure. The analysis of phase components of polymorphism is thus important for the industrial technology and products design. In this respect, analytical method for phase components is established by the use of X-ray diffraction, the most suitable way for the analysis of polymorphism.
