Metabolism and pathophysiological characters of rat mammary neoplasm

Research overview:
Changes of energy metabolism, blood flow rates and ratios of water/lipid with growth of tumors were traced by P-NMR in fibrosarcoma produced by carcinogenic agents in rats. ATP and PCr signals which were clear in normal tissues were unclear. This confirmed that ATP production by oxidative phosphorylation is dependent on glycolysis by decrease of mitochondrias with tumor growth. Besides, ratios of water/lipid and blood flow ratios were observed to have tendency to be declined. Fibrosarcoma appear to be related to thin blood vessels and a few blood distribution in tumors.
