Self-induced oscillation of a jet by periodical attaching and detaching to walls

Research overview:
When the jet nozzle is attached with a short diffuser and two controlling points are connected with duct, the jet flow automatically oscillate attaching and detaching on to the diffuser wall. The oscillating flow is called a flip-flop jet flow. Because the jet swings with no movable part, it is expected to be applicable to thrust augmentation ejectors or mixers. This Institute concurrently measures velocity and pressure using hot-wire air flow meter and pressure control valve to obtain ensemble averages and, based on the averages, examines the mechanism to induce the oscillation.
