Research overview:
Debris flow caused by failure in deeper stratum and landslide (expressed in the following, "compound type debris flow") is characterized much greater volume of run-off (about 50,00 to 500,000m3), its occurrence is not at the peak of rainfall and rather sometime later of it. For these reasons it is difficult to respond it with conventional prevention works, and usual alarm and evacuation measures are insufficient. For developing countermeasure for such compound type debris flow, it is important to elucidate the fluidization mechanism of collapsed earth, recognition method of the valley of possible danger, method to set up the guideline for alarm and evacuation, and method to prepare the hazard map.
