Development of suppressing technique for ground disaster

Research overview:
The present study does develop estimating method for liquefaction, and highly economical and seismic resistant reinforcing technique for banking and the like for "Development of Technique to Prevent ground Disasters" of an international joint research among multi-countries: "Study on Development of Technique for Reducing Earthquake and Tsunami Disasters and Its Systematization Suitable for the Asia and Pacific Regions". In the fiscal 1999, we conducted collection of data regarding liquefaction and damaged instances of earth fabrics like banking. It was found in consequence of this that judgment of liquefaction using the converted N value only as the index was not sufficient, and that reinforced earth wall not well designed for wall-face stress and fixed portion such as block type, roll-in type etc., which properly evaluated and appropriately reinforced the support force, must be given with aseismatic design for the wall face when constructing a gravitational retaining wall at mountainous district.
