Research overview:
The nuclear characteristics of high performance research reactors using enriched uranium fuel are studied mainly through critical experiments using KUCA (The Kyoto Univ. Critical Assembly). Reactor physics quantities such as critical mass, reactivity effects and reactivity coefficients, neutron flux distribution, reaction rates and their ratios and kinetic parameters are measured. Nuclear data and calculation codes are assessed by analyzing the experimental results and applied to the neutronic design of high performance research reactors.
