Research overview:
Electrolytic polishing is often used as the finishing and coloring processes of silver products. Originally cyanide solution was used but due to its toxicity and consideration for environment, non-cyanide solution was developed replacing the former. The latter, however, cannot provide better finish than the former and some companies do not use it because it takes long to process small components. If similar finishing effect can be achieved with non-cyanide solution, it would be a great contribution to ornament manufacturers in Yamanashi Prefecture. Electrolytic polishing is considered difficult for silver products and optimum electrolytic polishing conditions are established to achieve favorable results.
