Study on improvement of GPS based altimeter

Study period:2000 - 2001
Organization (1):
Investigating Researcher (2):
Research overview:
This study focuses on mitigation of work-load of compensation of the current baroaltitude altimeter by flight crews in the cockpit during flight and to eliminate the larger error at higher altitude that is proportional to the altitude, using onboard GPS(Global Positioning System)/GNSS(Global Navigation Satellite System) altitude. In F.Y.2000,basic system designs to improve the GPS/GNSS altitude being planned. Also, collection of the altitude data, using GPS and U.S.WAAS(Wide Area Augmentation System) are planned by flight experiments. In F.Y.2001,We will evaluate the system by the improvement of the altitude point of view.
