Establishment of a cropping type for flowering plants and stabilization of their production: (1) Improvement of cut flower quality of summer cropping flowering plants: 2) Effects of temperature management in the seedling raising period on the quality of cut flowers upon flowering time

草花類の作型の確立と生産安定 (1)夏季作草花類の切り花品質向上と生産安定 2)育苗期の温度管理が開花時期、切り花品質に与える影響
Study period:2002 - 2004
Research overview:
To improve the germination rate and germination equalization in raising of seedlings in the high-temperature season from July to August so as to ensure seedlings of stable quality, optimum temperatures for germination of requested 5 items of 9 varieties were clarified. The results revealed that many of the items have an optimum temperatures for germination of 15 and 20 degrees C, and maintenance of these temperatures appears to be impossible in the production line in cultivation districts. Therefore, the cold-storage treating temperature of seeds and the degree of germination under subsequent high-temperature conditions are investigated, and an appropriate treating method is elucidated.
