Development of wooden construction materials having novel functions utilizing materials made in Mi-e Prefecture

Study period:2001 - 2001

Research field (2): Material processing/treatment ,  Timber production science/wood engineering
Research overview:
House-interior materials were prepared with Japanese cedar and cypress of Mi-e Prefecture, compressed with heated roll, for hard surface. Surface of the materials was further processed with natural paint and its aging was examined for the practical use. The examination showed that the natural-paint processed material maintains its contact angle to water for a long time, though its surface roughness has no significant difference compared with that of non-processed materials. Moreover, influence of the painting on the anti-warping propertiy of the interior materials was examined against plate thickness, with the results of changes observed relative to both pate thickness and painting.
