Development of a satellite's onboard type fluorescent X-ray spectrometer

Research overview:
The solar X-ray excites the elements on the planetary surfaces and emits the characteristic secondary (fluorescent) X-ray into the space. When the energy and intensity of the X-ray are measured, the composition elements and the degree of presence on the solid planet surface are made clear. For the X-ray detector, a spectrometer using the next generation sensor and CCD is under development. The spectrometer is scheduled to be used for measurement of the element distribution on the surfaces of the moon and asteroids, being onboard on satellites of MESES-C and SELENE Missions, by remote sensing.
