Research overview:
This study develops an active brace incorporated with solid-state actuator (piezo-actuator or super magnetostrictive acrtuator), as the smart structure that can contribute not only to the improvement of livability but also earthquake resistance of buildings. This active brace is to control mutual pushing force between friction elements with solid-state actuator, and finally to control friction force between the friction elements.
