Generalization of limit analysis of structures by means of a new discrete model

Research overview:
Mathematical foundation of the 'Rigid Bodies-Spring Models'has been established to some extent by the studies for the past five years. And formulation of the theories for determination of the upper as well as lower bounds of collapse loads together with general procedure to determine the spring constants could be developed. Furthermore it was found recently that the present model is a generalized Shanley's model for the plastic column buckling and the model makes it possible for computer simulation with models of low numbers of degrees of freedom on the plastic instability phenomena of plate and shell structures. Macroscopic treatment of the reinforced concrete structures, analyses of contact problems of bolted joints, artificial humun joint, creep analysis of underground beam structures, etc. were also conducted with some success.
