Research overview:
In this study, a common compiler infrastructure will be developed, to make it easy to experimentally develop and evaluate new compiler architectures. Then a parallelizing compiler will be built on the infrastructure to demonstrate its effectiveness. The tasks to be undertaken are; to define; a high level intermediate representation (HIR) to be applicable to more than one different programming languages, and a low level of intermediate representation (LIR) to be applicable to more than one different processor architectures, to develop functional modules of compilers, based on the above representations; to handle optimization, parallelization, code generation, and others, and to demonstrate that compilers can easily be developed by combining these modules.
