Higher order visual functions of inferotemporal area TEO
1997 - 2004
Inferotemporal area TEO of the macaque has been thought to be indispensable for two dimensional form perception because of its significant ablation effects on pattern discrimination tasks. Recently, a electrophysiological examination of the extent of area TEO has demonstrated a large discrepancy between the electrophysiologically defined area TEO and conventionally ablated are TEO. To examine a possible participation of the newly defined area TEO in higher order visual functions, we study ablation effects of the new area TEO on various visual pattern discrimination tasks and visual memory tasks.
