Research overview:
Living organisms, especially mammals, have developed multiple defense mechanisms against foreign matters. Of particular interest is an immune system which is the autonomous distributed system with learning capability and memory. The regulation mechanism of the system is studied from the engineering point of view. The possible application of the system principle to the integrity diagnosis of engineering structures and automatic maintenance is examined.
