Research overview:
Cracks in concrete components accelerate degradation of a reinforced concrete structure. Coating materials such as waterproofing membranes or paints are expected to prevent concrete at cracked area from carbonation, because they largely stretch and thereby cover the cracks in a concrete surface. The prevention effect of them is quantitatively estimated to prolong life of a reinforced concrete structures in the project.
