Research overview:
Study aims at elongation of life of heat-resistant steel and corrosion-resistant steel taking using conditions as structural materials into consideration. (1) Study on heat-resistant ferrite steel of high Cr content (Cr: 9-12%) explores improvements in long-term strength characteristics at high temperatures and in acid-resistance, aiming at long term use in 650 degrees centigrade class power plants operated under a super-supercritical pressure, by improvement in long term and high temperature stability of microstructures. (2) Coating technique is explored accompanied by corrosion tests of various materials in marine and simulated environments, to provide a guideline for development of seawater-resistant stainless steel. Also the study elucidates the mechanism of stabilization of the steel in seashore environments, to provide a guideline for development of low-content alloys. (k2001.10)
