Study on assessing the environmental load reduction effect by AHS (Advanced Cruise-Assist Highway System)

Study period:1999 - 2000
Research overview:
Traffic congestion is spreading out from centers of cities, its economical loss is estimated to amount as much as 12 trillion yen, and causes serious problems in safety or transportation efficiency. Also, environmental deterioration along roads, disharmony with earth environment etc. have become noticeable, and the resolution of such road traffic problems is urged strongly. AHS (Advanced Cruise-Assist Highway System) is a system for improvement of safety and transportation efficiency, and at the same time, that for quality improvement of road environment. In this study, reduction of congestion and stabilization of traffic flow, and resulting reduction in environmental load (reduction in CO2 etc.) by the introduction of AHS function are analyzed and investigated with the traffic flow simulator.
