Research overview:
Novel and durable cast iron material permitting easy recycling is required from viewpoint of global environments and resource saving. Although white cast iron is used for anti-abrasion applications, it lacks sufficient flexibility and anti-corroding property. On exploring novel and durable cast iron permitting use for higher load under corroding environments, study was carried out around a fundamental formula of x%C-20%Cr-10%Ni-y%V-Fe, taking properties of chemical bond into account. Thus we obtained a metal system consisting of uniformly distributed carbide spheres, which showed even superior anti-abrading, anti-shock, and anti-corroding properties.
