Prestressed evaluation method for the joint of precast concrete (PC) pillars and beams

Precast concrete (PC) structure has a large potential as a structural type suitable to precasting. It is expected to be used for high-rise buildings in the future, but it is necessary to take a grasp of the structural characteristics of joints and establish a rational design method to utilize the structure as a quakeproof element. In general a building with a PC structure is often combined with the members of RC structure, but its structural characteristics vary depending on how they are combined, the shape of the joint, how they are joined together and etc. As a joint method for PC members there are various proposals such as pressure bonding using prestress, but they have not been systematically examined, nor has its design method been improved. This study is to collect and classify existing bonding methods and conduct a basic examination on a stress transfer mechanism. Moreover we choose some representative bonding methods to confirm their structural performance by experiments and examine a resistance evaluation method.
