Investigation regarding method to select counter plan to rationally reinforce levees

As a result of total checks of levees that had been executed on the whole levees of rivers since 1996, it could be understood that an effective and economical method as a counter plan to reinforce levees should be examined for relatively weak places. Therefore, in this study, we are going to understand effects of existing methods and a new method using new techniques. We executed a large-scale rainfall experiment to verify the effect of the method as a counter plan using short fiber mixed reinforced soil in 1999. As a result, it could be recognized that rainfall less eroded adhesive surfaces when employing a soil covering method using above-mentioned short fiber mixed reinforced soil and a method using covering soil and spreading soil compared with a case without any counter plan. It could be also recognized that above-mentioned two methods could delay the time taken for the break down of a levee, therefore, those methods had effectiveness as counter plans for reinforcement.
