Research overview:
New photo-functional materials and elements are searched and developed by making submicron-order organic thin films and fine particles having photo-functions with their structures controlled and evaluating their properties. In the first year examined were functional organic/inorganic composite fine particles by wet methods, novel organic luminescent elements by vapor deposition and orientation-controlled organic thin film by the MBE method, with emphasis upon the materials and their preparation. In the second year, to enhance the fuctionality and grades of the materials and elements, we intend (1) to select functional organic molecular species and optimize modification of composite fine particles, integration, lamination of thin films and orientation conditions and (2) to improve measurement techniques for e.g. luminescent characteristics and examine the possibility of embodiment of their devices.
