Diagnosis and treatment of stroke and neurological disorders: 6. Genetic analysis in stroke, dementia and normal volunteers
2001 - 2001
Genes for apolipoprotein E, homocysteine, lipoprotein(a) renin-angiotensin converting enzyme(ACE), etc have been noticed as risk factors for cerebral hemorrhage. Many of such factors are recognized to be risk factors for not only cerebrovascular disorders but also Alzheimer disease, and analyses of gene-related risk factors have become a virtue of necessity in the brain stroke research. The project research has been planted in which gene analyses are carried out on risk factors common for cerebral stroke and Alzheimer disease such as apolipoprotein, homocysteine, ACE and so on, and onset forms, family histories, findings of cerebral circulation metabolism and the other images, and the other risk factors are comparatively studied in cooperation with Department of Neurology at Kyoto Prefectural University of medicine where the analysis system for cerebral stroke-related genes has been established. As its first step, the analysis of gene regarded as risk factors of cerebral stroke and dementia was filed to the ethical committee in this center.
