Research overview:
After Southern Hyogo Prefecture Earthquake, it is asked to consider earthquake resistance of the fill dam against the earthquake ground motion of level 2. At present, the profile of the fill dam is designed fundamentally by the seismic intensity method, and dynamic analysis with the equivalent linear approximation technique is usually applied to check the result for a dam to be especially careful in the resistance to earthquake. But, for simulating the behavior of large deformation of fill dam against the earthquake ground movement of level 2, the analysis that can express more precisely the non-linearity of the bank body becomes necessary. In the 1999 fiscal year, with the non-linear effective stress analysis using successive integral, the dynamic characteristics of the densely packed coarser aggregate material was analyzed, and the analyzing method to determine the remaining displacement after the earthquake was investigated for the advancement of earthquake resistant designing of rock-fill dam.
