Research overview:
With regard to "MMO", an orbiting satellite for magnetosphere exploration to be produced in Japan and to be incorporated in "BepiColombo", an international Mercury investigating satellite project proposed in 2001, we are proposing installation of a high-energy particle observing instrument in MMO. In the fiscal 2001, we have completed the basic design of the particle observing instrument under the prerequisites of its compactness, light-weight, and low power-consumption. We have also built up the future development plan through discussions with the overseas collaborative development group. Moreover, as for each component to be developed, we have almost finished to build up details of the development elements such as designing and producing means and planning. In parallel, we are also advancing the specification-deciding step for the interface to an electronics for instrument-control and data-acquisition, commonly used with other plasma-particle observing instruments.
