An experiment research was conducted to evaluate burning progress details and final particle diameter distribution and burning completion from an Al-filled burned surface to the interior of motor free port in various composite propellants by using Improved-QPCB confirmed with its good practical use in the previous fiscal year and before. Their influences were evaluated by using pressure and distance as parameters to successfully obtain knowledge different from the result obtained from the conventional QPCB. In addition, a highly accurate result was obtained on the burning rate of the Al by using ICP equipment. Research development has started to a technique observing in detail the burning behavior of the Al on the burned surface of a composite propellant by pulling up brightness contrast, 3,000,000 times (130 dB) corresponding to the same field of vision as that of a CCD and by using a developed visual sensor having low after image formation, resulting in the goal. These research results are expected to provide knowledge for providing the improvement of the burning efficiency of the filled Al, the elucidation of multi-phase flow behavior in a motor, the residual property of an Al-burned residue in a case, and a heat flux property of a contact wall. The present research was executed as part of 'a research on a quantitative design technique for a nozzle', three-organization merged project in 2002 fiscal year.
