Research overview:
In this research, hybrid mass dampers with convertible active and passive modes have been developed using AC servo-motor or induction-type linear motor as the actuator. Through the vibration experiment on a vibration table, effectiveness of the active-passive conversion rule was confirmed in consideration on such limits as overload, temperature, and speed limits. Its application to full-size buildings was conducted for observation and analysis.
